2016 Brass Staff
Adam Freeman – Brass Caption Head
Adam Freeman is currently the Director of Bands at Hackettstown Middle School in northwest New Jersey. Adam graduated with honors from William Paterson University with a concentration in Euphonium performance and education certification. He began marching with the Hawthorne Caballeros from 2000-2003 concluding with a DCA championship in 2003. He then went on to march The Cadets from 2004-2005 winning a DCI world championship in his final marching year. Adam went on to be Assistant Caption Head with the Hawthorne Caballeros in 2006-2007, then winning three consecutive championships as a low brass technician with the Reading Buccaneers. Through these years he also spent some time on the staff of The Cadets and the Jersey Surf. In the last five seasons he has again assumed his role as Co-Brass Caption Head with the Hawthorne Caballeros helping to reestablish themselves as a title contender in DCA. In addition to his responsibilities with the Caballeros, Adam was also the brass arranger for the 2014 Sun Devils Class A corps and is currently the arranger for Solaris Drum Corps and WGI Winds.
John Adcock – Tuba Technician/Brass Architect
John Adcock is entering his second year with the Caballeros brass staff. John has performed as a tuba player with various groups at Walt Disney World and Busch Gardens. John spent seven years in the US Army Band as a performer and sound engineer, including deploying to Iraq and Kuwait as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Mr. Adcock got his drum corps start with Suncoast Sound and later aged out with the Blue Devils. He has also won a DCA World Championship with the Reading Buccaneers as a euphonium player. In addition to the Caballeros John has been on many drum corps and marching band staffs including Teal Sound, Spring-Ford Area HS and is currently the music ensemble at Avon Grove HS in West Grove, PA.
Robert DeFelice – Mellophone Technician
Robert DeFelice started his marching career at an early age with various local fife and drum corps. He has performed with numerous ensembles and orchestras including The Cadets from 2005-2007, the 2010 Hawthorne Caballeros and Connecticut Hurricanes in 2002-2004;2013. He studied Music Education and Trumpet Performance at Central Connecticut State University. Robert has taught and written for many high schools throughout the Northeast region and currently adjudicates for USBands. Robert is a Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental Manager for his company involved in offshore seismic exploration for the oil and gas industry.
Kevin Munroe – Baritone Technician
Kevin Munroe is a freelance Trombonist in the NY/NJ area playing in a variety of ensembles from symphony orchestra to hip hop brass bands and everything in between. He is a graduate of West Orange HS and still continues to teach the marching band there. In 2005 he marched the Bushwackers Drum Corps which provided a great foundation for his participation in the West Chester University’s Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band. Kevin marched his DCI age out with the 2008 Cadets. Mr. Munroe has a Bachelor’s of Music from West Chester University and a Master’s of Music from the University of Miami.
Kyle Risch – Trumpet Technician Kyle Risch holds a BA in Music Education from West Chester University where he also performed with several of the school’s premier ensembles, including the Wind Ensemble for three years. After graduating Kyle went on to to begin is education career as a high school band director in the Parsippany Troy School District and was music arranger for the marching band there. In 2010 Kyle began his drum corps experience marching with the Caballeros. He then went on to teach Jersey Surf and the Caballeros as a trumpet technician. Along with freelance playing and teaching local marching bands, Kyle is currently preparing to start a career with the United States Army Music program; however he is also eager to continue bringing his experience and knowledge to the Hawthorne Caballeros as much as possible. |
Lou Storck – Assistant Staff Coordinator Lou has been with the Hawthorne Caballeros since 1966. Currently the Operations Manager, Lou will continue in the role of Assistant Staff Coordinator. He began his career with Hawthorne by marching in the percussion section and eventually taught the Caballeros Color Guard from 1969 through 1999. Lou was drum major from 1977 through 2007 and assists wherever he is needed. Lou was inducted into the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame in 2004. |
