The Hawthorne Caballeros delivered a standout performance at this year’s Drum Corps International All-Age Championships, finishing in second place overall while sweeping four individual caption awards: Best Color Guard, Best Honor Guard, Best Drum Major, and Best Percussion.

The result caps a milestone year for the organization, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary. Founded in 1946, the Hawthorne Caballeros remain one of the most storied and decorated organizations in All-Age drum corps history, and this season’s show titled “Entwine” reflects a program built on that legacy while continuing to push forward competitively.

This season’s production, “Entwine,” centered on the predatory dance between a spider and its prey, brought to life through intricate web-like formations and a deliberate build in tension across the field.

The Caballeros’ silver medal finish came alongside dominance across individual captions. The color guard earned top marks for its visual design and execution, continuing a tradition of excellence that has long been a hallmark of the Caballeros’ identity. The percussion section’s award reflected a season of tight, dynamic performances that anchored the corps’ overall sound.

The drum corps was also given the awards for Best Honor Guard and Best Drum Major. Al Katz, long time General Manager, was given the Director of the Year award in the All-Age Division.

Landing two caption titles in an anniversary season adds extra weight to the achievement, marking it as one of the standout years in the organization’s eight-decade history. The Hawthorne Caballeros will look to build on this momentum as they head into the next competitive season, with their sights set on reclaiming the top spot on the podium.
