Coronavirus Safety Protocols for Open House

Protecting members, newcomers, staff, and volunteers is our top priority. CDC and OSHA have established numerous guidelines to help groups plan, prepare, and gather while helping control the spread of COVID-19. Based on this guidance, the Hawthorne Caballeros have developed several new protocols to ensure everyone has a safe and positive experience at Open House on October 11.

Health Screening & Questionnaire

All potential 2021 members are encouraged to register for Open House prior to Oct. 9. Not only does this help streamline the process the day of, but it will also give registrants access to members-only files. Whether registering beforehand, or the day of, attendees are required to submit a health screening (parents/legal guardians must sign for registrants under 18 years old) no earlier than 24 hours before the event.

If you are traveling from any state on NJ’s Travel Advisory List without quarantining 14 days prior to Open House, you may be asked to leave.

As you arrive, please check in at the table in front of the athletic center to complete a temperature check. You will then be directed to your section’s rehearsal site.

Social/Physical Distancing

Participants and staff will be required to maintain a distance of at least six feet from others at all times in rehearsal spaces, bathrooms, trucks, break areas, etc. unless otherwise specified. We are currently developing protocols to help everyone maintain a safe distance in all spaces.

Cleaning/Disinfecting/Sanitizing

All equipment, instruments, and frequently-touched surfaces (pens, tables, music stands, etc.) will be cleaned and/or disinfected prior to Open House. Cleaning materials will be accessible for everyone to use the day of. We will do our best to ensure spaces and equipment are cleaned/disinfected throughout the day.

Hand sanitizer will be provided for all members and staff and bathrooms will be accessible on-site. We encourage all attendees to sanitize and/or wash their hands as needed.

Cloth Face & Instrument Coverings

The State of NJ requires all persons outside to wear a cloth face covering when social distancing cannot be maintained. All persons on-site must wear a cloth face covering at all times unless eating, drinking, or otherwise specified. Brass players will be provided a cloth bell covering for their instruments.

What to Bring

Please come prepared for an outdoor rehearsal, rain or shine. We encourage you to bring layers, rain gear, and a cloth face covering. Unfortunately, lunch will not be provided so please bring your own food and drinks. You will not be allowed to leave during the rehearsal for lunch.

All instruments and equipment will be provided although sharing is not permitted. Have your own instrument/equipment? Great! Bring it along for your own use.

Failure to follow these guidelines may result in being asked to leave Open House.

See you October 11!
